Pupil & Sports Premium
Pupil PREMIUM & Recovery premium
The Pupil Premium is a government initiative that funds extra money targeted at pupils from socio-economically deprived backgrounds, which research shows underachieve compared to their non-deprived peers. The premium is provided in order to support these pupils in reaching their full learning potential.
The government has used pupil's entitled to Free School Meals (FSM), or Looked After Children (LAC) or from Armed Service families as indicators for deprivation and has deployed a fixed amount of money to schools per annum based on the number of pupils eligible in each category. Schools are able to claim pupil premium retrospectively over five years (LAC) and six years (FSM) periods.

Sports Premium
At Longthorpe Primary Academy, we are passionate about giving every child the opportunity to be active, develop their skills, discover a love of sport and understand the lifelong benefits of physical activity. We are committed to making the most of our PE and Sport Premium funding to provide exciting, inclusive and high-quality sporting experiences that inspire our children to be active, confident and healthy for life.
This year is a transition year: the existing PE and Sport Premium continues, but from April 2027 it will be replaced by the new PE and School Sport Partnerships Network, which will provide schools with access to wider training, expertise and targeted support. Schools must continue to use the 2026–2027 funding for additional and sustainable improvements to PE, sport and physical activity and publish details of its spending and impact by 31 July 2027.
