PTA
Every parent with a child at Longthorpe and every member of staff is automatically a member of the PTA and from these parents and staff a committee is formed. The PTA meet to discuss school matters and organize fund raising events such as: the summer and Christmas fetes; school discos; sponsored events; non-uniform days and community evenings to help support the school.
In previous years the PTA have raised funds for a new pavilion which is used as an outside classroom, stage lighting and sound systems for the hall, PE equipment and games and activities for children to play during wet playtimes. In the spring of 2018, the PTA donated money to each class in school to purchase new outdoor play equipment for playtimes.
Membership of the PTA committee is an enjoyable and interesting way of becoming involved in the school and getting to know the staff, children and other parents.
We are currently looking for new members. We truly appreciate the demands of work and home life but there are a number of ways you can help the PTA, from an hour selling sweets and cakes at a school disco to playing an active leadership role in the PTA.
If you would like to find out what the PTA does, why not attend their next meeting?
